Project Overview
TRC Garden Services came to the project as a sole-trader landscaper with a strong local reputation but no meaningful online presence to show for it. Tony Chantler has been laying patios, building decks, and reshaping gardens across Hastings, Bexhill, Rye and the surrounding East Sussex coast for over a decade — the challenge was building a website that matched the quality of his physical work and gave potential customers the confidence to pick up the phone.
The core brief was trust. Homeowners hiring a landscaper are making a significant investment, often in a market filled with unreliable operators. The site needed to position TRC as the honest, skilled, locally-rooted choice — without feeling corporate or overproduced. The goal was approachable and personal, while still being unmistakably professional.
Beyond credibility, the site needed to work as a practical lead generation tool — making it easy for someone who'd found Tony via Google or word of mouth to understand what he offers and get in touch quickly.
Structure & Content Strategy
The site is built around four core services — patios, decking, garden design, and fencing — each given its own dedicated page. This structure serves two purposes: it gives visitors a clear path based on their specific project, and it supports local SEO by allowing each page to target relevant search terms across the Hastings and East Sussex area.
The homepage follows a deliberate conversion journey. A strong, direct headline with geographic anchoring is followed by a personal brand story that puts Tony front and centre — no subcontracting, no hidden costs, the same face from first quote to final handover. A services overview, a step-by-step process section, social proof through testimonials, a coverage map, and a persistent call-to-action all work together to reduce friction and move the visitor toward requesting a free quote.
A dedicated FAQ section handles the objections homeowners typically raise before committing — timelines, pricing, materials, guarantees — answering them on-page rather than leaving them to chance in a phone call. This reduces the burden on Tony and helps build confidence before a single word is exchanged.
Design & Build
The site was built in Webflow, allowing for a fully custom design without the constraints of a template or the overhead of a bespoke codebase. The visual approach is bold but grounded — a dark colour palette rooted in the site's #0d100e theme colour gives the design weight and authority, while clean typography and generous whitespace keep the focus firmly on content and clarity.
Imagery is drawn from Tony's own project work, which was essential — real photography of real local gardens carries far more trust than stock images, and it gives prospective customers a genuine sense of the standard they can expect. Every section of the site is fully responsive, performing cleanly across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
Particular care was taken with the process section, which walks visitors through Tony's four-step workflow — visit and listen, quote and plan, build, hand over — making the experience of hiring him feel transparent and reassuring before any contact is made. The 10-year workmanship guarantee is given prominent placement throughout, as it's one of the clearest differentiators in a crowded local market.
A scrolling ticker of services and locations reinforces geographic relevance and keeps the local SEO signals consistent across the page. The footer provides full contact details, service links, and social channels — all contributing to local trust and search visibility.
Outcome
The result is a focused, personal, and professional website that clearly communicates who TRC Garden Services are, what they build, and why homeowners across East Sussex should choose Tony — with every element oriented toward generating enquiries and converting visitors into customers.
